Polkadot launched a new global stage focused on products, private digital identity and human participation, transforming its ecosystem. The details.
At Sub0 Argentina, Polkadot founder Dr. Gavin Wood announced the start of the Second Era of Polkadot during a presentation that outlined a profound shift towards people-centred products.
In his address he outlined the transition from a decade of protocol engineering towards a stage focused on accessible tools, open participation and a technology culture oriented towards global adoption.
The announcement included the official presentation of Polkadot Mobile and the Polkadot People initiative, two developments conceived to bring millions of new users on board through simple, private and fully decentralised experiences.
Wood’s Vision and the Path Towards the Second Era
Dr. Gavin Wood is a central figure in the technology industry, having served as Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Ethereum, author of the Ethereum Yellow Paper, creator of Solidity, founder of Polkadot, driver of the Web3 Foundation and creator of Kusama.
He also serves as founder and CEO of Parity Technologies, the technical organisation responsible for sustaining the deep development currently driving Polkadot’s infrastructure as a scalable, decentralised multichain network.
During his address, Wood noted that the foundational question “Can we create a scalable, secure and decentralised foundation for a multichain future?” now has an answer, consolidated after ten years of work dedicated to that structural mission.

The announcement included the official presentation of Polkadot Mobile and the Polkadot People initiative.
The founder remarked: “We spent ten years building the foundations,” followed by “That work is now real. It works. It scales. It has governance. Now, for the first time, we are ready for products and for people.”
In his presentation he also introduced Polkadot Mobile, an application designed to enable simple and secure interactions with the ecosystem, highlighting “The product is where technology meets humanity” as the principle of his renewed approach.
Private Human Identity and Mass Participation with Polkadot People
Wood presented Polkadot People as a determining initiative for bringing millions of people on board, driven by privacy mechanisms that allow real humanity to be verified without exposing sensitive data within the decentralised ecosystem.
The proposal is underpinned by Project Individuality, Polkadot’s native proof-of-humanity protocol, designed specifically to confirm that behind every digital identity there is a human being, whilst maintaining full protection against external manipulation.
Its architecture enables a decentralised identity layer, resistant to Sybil attacks and oriented towards guaranteeing equal participation, preventing multiple false identities from distorting processes within Web3 communities.
The initiative also drives a global onboarding campaign that seeks to foster fairer governance, centred on privacy and designed to integrate everyday users through accessible and culturally relevant experiences.
In closing, Wood affirmed: “Designed for the everyday. Whether with friends, family, community or the world at large, this is how Polkadot becomes a platform for people: it is the transition from a platform to a society, from technology to human culture.”
