Postdoctoral Researcher at Weizenbaum Institute

Learn more about his projects:

Political scientist and postdoctoral researcher at the Weizenbaum Institute in Berlin, where her current work explores community-owned data centers as an alternative to corporate digital infrastructure. Across her research, Tara studies innovative ownership models that grant communities greater governance and financial rights over digital infrastructure, from online platforms to physical data centers.

She completed her PhD in Political Science at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, supervised by Primavera De Filippi and co-supervised by Ellie Rennie, conducted in connection with the ERC’s BlockchainGov project at CNRS. Her thesis examined “Exit to Community,” the process of transitioning platforms and technologies in the digital economy into community ownership and governance, research grounded in an interdisciplinary background spanning economics, digital innovation, and political philosophy.

Tara has also served as a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy at The New School, researching cooperative data centers as an alternative to corporate-owned infrastructure, and contributed to The Metagovernance Project, developing frameworks for open-source community governance transitions. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Strategy Analyst at IOTA Foundation and as a research consultant with Other Internet, focusing on blockchain governance and DAOs.
