To a substantial audience, this Wednesday saw the opening of a gathering at the Forum Convention Centre, driven by the provincial Government with the aim of helping people understand “how technology can change the future,” featuring specialists of recognised international standing.
This event will allow students, professionals, entrepreneurs and the general public to access free talks, workshops and cutting-edge panels on the world’s most advanced technologies.
Marina Paola Marchesotti and Pauline Cohen Vorms, from Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA), took part in the opening. Representing the provincial Government was the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Matilde O’Mill.
Marchesotti explained: “The idea is to showcase the tools that young people need to know, and what the most in-demand competencies will be in a world shaped by artificial intelligence, digital traceability and decentralisation.”
This was followed by a session with panels on blockchain technology to strengthen institutional transparency, participatory governance and efficiency in public management.
The keynote talk was on “Blockchain and Youth: Innovation, Autonomy and Social Transformation,” delivered by Primavera De Filippi, who stated: “Blockchain is a very disruptive technology. When it first appeared, voices were heard saying it would be the technology that would return power to the people. Its technological design is decentralised in such a way that the use of intermediaries can be avoided. One of its uses is that it allows economic transactions to be made without a bank.”
The panel “From Users to Creators: Understanding the Web3 Revolution” also took place, featuring Carlos Aguiló and Lovisa Björna, who explained the scope of Web 3.0, which “seeks to advance towards the read, write and own paradigm, in which the creators of data not only own and control it, but also have greater decision-making power over how it is used and managed. Web 3.0 technologies provide various mechanisms for this, with the intention that end users cease to be merely customers and become shareholders and participants as well.”
Also presented this Wednesday was “Guardians ID: Web3 Innovation for Identity and the Regional Economy,” delivered by Alan Cura, who explained that his arrival in the country is also linked to the Ball project, a technology initiative connected to Argentine football that plans to launch a global digital passport for supporters, based on decentralised identity and developed on Polkadot’s Web3 infrastructure.
This Thursday at 15:00 the keynote conference will be delivered by Dr. Gavin Wood, creator of Polkadot and co-founder of Ethereum, to speak on one of the central themes of his global agenda: blockchain as a new social contract and opportunity for growth.
