During a technology and finance forum. Several provincial leaders have already begun dialogue with Interior Minister Diego Santilli in pursuit of a new stage in relations with the Casa Rosada.
The governors of the Norte Grande are meeting this Thursday in Santiago del Estero to present a united front in the midst of the round of negotiations that opened with the national government following Diego Santilli’s arrival as Interior Minister. In parallel, the city will host an international forum on blockchain, decentralised technologies and innovative finance, which will attract global figures and regional political actors. The convergence of both events underscores the growing interest of the northern Argentine provinces in positioning themselves as axes of development and modernisation in a context of dispute over resources and parliamentary representation.
The gathering will bring together from 10:30 in the morning Leandro Zdero (Chaco), Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja), Hugo Passalacqua (Misiones), host Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero), and other leaders such as Carlos Sadir (Jujuy) and Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), according to sources at the Cultural Centre of the Bicentenary. The leaders will seek to demonstrate internal cohesion on the eve of the start of extraordinary congressional sessions and a legislative year marked by the structural reforms proposed by Javier Milei, where every provincial vote carries weight.
The backdrop is set by the strategic round of contacts promoted in recent weeks by Interior Minister Diego Santilli, who has begun conversations with the majority of northern representatives to secure stable allies capable of enabling the so-called “second generation” reforms. Santilli himself has new meetings planned with Gerardo Zamora and Hugo Passalacqua in the coming days, seeking to strengthen bridges with the provincial executives that have yet to reach a full understanding with the Casa Rosada.

The official agenda of the Norte Grande bloc covers, among other topics, the state of the energy infrastructure, the future of public transport and the regional political reorganisation aimed at optimising parliamentary representation in the National Congress. According to statements by the governor of Tucumán, Osvaldo Jaldo, gathered in an official press release, the assembly will serve to address “some energy matters we have pending, including public transport, which is always on the agenda because all our provinces face the same problems.”
Jaldo pointed out that current challenges require rethinking the political and legislative coordination of the Norte Grande, taking into account both the distribution of national funds and the capacity to influence upcoming parliamentary discussions. “We are working on how we reorganise ourselves in this new stage with our representation in the National Congress, with what roles and in what manner our national deputies will be able to work with our national senators, because our vision must be regional,” the Tucumán leader explained in the communiqué. He also underscored the importance of “seeking a methodology to group a greater number of deputies” through the formation of inter-blocs, in order to become one of the most influential minorities in Congress and support projects with strong federal roots.
The regional assembly coincides with the opening of the international forum on Web3 and decentralised technologies, which will draw over two days world-renowned experts, public officials and young entrepreneurs to the city of Santiago del Estero. The Forum will host presentations, workshops and debates on the uses of blockchain in governmental transparency, participatory governance and the promotion of new forms of financial inclusion. According to the event’s press release, the Polkadot Blockchain Academy, together with the Guardians of the Ball initiative and the institutional support of the University of Buenos Aires and the UTN, will foster a space for dialogue on the impact of emerging technologies on public management and the regional economy.
The schedule envisages the participation of Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum and leading global reference in blockchain development, focused on analysing the regulatory challenges and institutional potential of the new digital economy. The presence of representatives from Estable.io, a company associated with the giant Tether and dedicated to driving stablecoins in Latin America, furthermore introduces the theme of financial inclusion as a shared priority across the various governmental and business spheres.
