PBA Campus Buenos Aires
In 2023, the second edition of PBA Campus took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Building on the first edition, it offered an intensive learning environment focused on blockchain technologies and the Polkadot ecosystem.
Hosted in the heart of one of Latin America’s most dynamic technology hubs, this intensive program brought together a highly selected cohort of engineers, researchers, and builders from around the world to advance their expertise in blockchain systems, cryptography and decentralized protocol design.
Academic Excellence at the Core
This program was a deep academic immersion into the foundations of blockchain engineering.
Participants engaged in an intensive curriculum covering:
- Advanced blockchain architecture and protocol design
- Substrate development framework
- Cryptography and distributed systems
- Governance mechanisms and decentralized coordination
- Applied engineering workshops and protocol-level implementation
The program was designed and delivered by core engineers and researchers from Parity Technologies and the broader Polkadot ecosystem, ensuring a direct connection between academic theory and cutting-edge industry practice.
A Highly Selective Global Cohort
The Buenos Aires edition brought together approximately 75 selected participants from 20 different countries, chosen from a highly competitive applicant pool of hundreds of engineers.
Representing multiple continents, the cohort created a truly international academic environment, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and engineering approaches.
Hosted at the University of Buenos Aires
The program took place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires, one of Latin America’s most prestigious academic institutions, in partnership with IALAB, its Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
Together, UBA and IALAB offered a strong legacy of academic leadership and a vibrant environment for intellectual exchange, symbolizing the convergence of traditional academic excellence and decentralized technology research.

Instruction was led by a distinguished group of engineers and researchers from:

- Guest contributors and protocol specialists
Rather than a conventional lecture model, the Academy emphasized deep technical workshops, collaborative engineering sessions, and direct interaction with protocol maintainers and builders.
Art & Community with Milo Lockett
PBA connects technology with local culture wherever it lands. In Buenos Aires, this vision came to life through a collaboration with renowned Argentine artist Milo Lockett, joined by fellow artists Pipol and Maarmapa.
Together with participants, they co-created three collective murals using Polkadot-inspired symbols, later divided into sections and transformed into NFTs, linking physical collaboration with digital ownership.
Individual contributions forming a unified system. Decentralized authorship. Collective creation translated into verifiable on-chain value.
Community & Public Engagement
Beyond the academic curriculum, PBA Buenos Aires included public talks, networking sessions with local and international Web3 communities, and open discussions on governance and cryptographic innovation. These initiatives helped bridge academic learning with real-world ecosystem development.

Open Nights
The PBA Campus in Buenos Aires extended beyond the classroom, into a space for human connection between future collaborators in the Web3 ecosystem.
The Open Nights opened the Academy’s doors to the wider public, transforming the historic Faculty of Law into a cultural meeting point through live music and cultural activations rooted in Argentine identity.
Visual Identity, Grounded in Buenos Aires
Each PBA Campus connects meaningfully with its host location. In Buenos Aires, a dedicated visual identity reflected both the global nature of the Polkadot ecosystem and the character of the city.
Standing before the venue, the iconic Floralis Genérica became part of the story. The sculpture was naturally incorporated into the visual identity of the program and was part of the design language across banners, screens, and graphic materials, reinforcing the connection between the Academy and its surrounding environment.
This 20-meter kinetic sculpture was a landmark that students encountered daily throughout the Academy.
